How To Prepare For Your Roof Installation

Posted on: November 20, 2014

One of the questions we appreciate here at Chinook, is “How can I help prepare for the installation?” We like to make the installation process as painless as possible, and there are some great ways that you can help us with that!

PREPARE FOR YOUR ROOF INSTALLATION

Roof Installation

Our completed Vashon Island roofing project

-We will need close access to the roof, so it’s helpful when all vehicles are out of the driveway and parked away from the house. Also, if you have patio furniture, be sure to move it away from the house.

-If there is a Satellite Dish, TV antenna, solar panel or basketball hoop mounted on or near the roof, it may have to be moved to properly install your new roof. Your contractor will be able to talk with you more about this when we give you your estimate.

-Any hanging plants should be taken down for installation.

-Debris and dust will be coming down from the roof, so if you have valuables in the garage or attic, you may wish to cover them with a sheet or tarp in preparation for the installation.

-We recommend removing any loose or breakable items from the walls and shelves, as the vibrations from the tools and crew members could cause them to move.

-Be sure to cut off power to all roof attic fans.

-If there are children and pets home during the installation, please ensure they’re kept inside in a safe place.

-Installing a roof requires the use of nail guns, hammers, nails, and other somewhat noisy tools. Before the project begins, you will be given the hours that our installers will be present, so please be prepared for associated noises during those hours.

If you have any questions or concerns about anything listed, give us a call and we’ll be happy to help. Also, keep in mind that during the installation, there will be debris present. Not to worry! We will clean up any debris from the installation and our contractor will go over everything with you before we leave.
